FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Q? Who makes the best HVAC equipment?
- A. There really is no best HVAC manufacturer. All the different brands have the same components made by the same parts manufacturers that everyone else uses. All the brands have a 10 year parts warrantee and most installation companies provide 1 or more years of labor warrantee. The big difference is the way it is installed. Proper installation of your system is the key to your system's long and happy life. With the addition of having a semi-annual maintenance done.
- Q? How often should I change my air filter?
- A. Most 1" air filters should be changed every 6 months. If you have a large capacity filter, it can normally go a year between changes. If you have dogs or cats, you may find that your air filter requires changing more often. You should check in on it every few months.
- Q? What can I do to help my system run more efficiently?
- A. Keep your air filter clean. Make sure all vents are not restricted. Air flow is very important to your HVAC system.
- Q? How important is having a maintenance done?
- A. As a general rule, you should have maintenance done on your equipment once a year. This is not only a good idea, but some manufacturers require it to be done in order to keep your warrantee in force.
- Q? What are the benefits of a preventive maintenance plan?
- A. Many times a non optimum condition can be detected and corrected during a preventive maintenance. This saves you the cost of a service call since we are already on site.
- Q? What can I do to make my system run more efficiently?
- A. The "brain" that controls your system is your thermostat. If you have a gas or oil furnace, using a programmable thermostat could save you hundreds of dollars per year. If you have a heat pump with electric back up heat, you should have a thermostat that will not allow the electric back up heat to come on above a certain outdoor temperature; such as a Nest or Honeywell 8000 series thermostat. The extra expense on that type of thermostat can be recovered within a few months during cold weather.
